Keynote Speakers

Dr. Bernita Missal, PhD, RN, FCN has been a professor at Bethel University in St Paul, Minnesota since 2002. Prior to that time, she practiced nursing in the United Arab Emirates in nursing administration. Her published research includes the Gulf Arab woman’s transition to motherhood and childbirth experiences of the Somali immigrant new mother in Minnesota. She has presented locally, nationally, and internationally. She was a recipient of both a Fulbright Scholar and Fulbright Specialist award to the Sultanate of Oman. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate nursing students with a focus on cultural diversity in healthcare, research, and maternity nursing.

 

Meagan Mashni MSN, RN, is a clinical nurse educator for NICU and Women’s Care at the University of Chicago Medical Center and is an Adjunct Faculty professor for ABSN students at Olivet Nazarene University in global health.  Her primary specialty nursing experience has been in the NICU at the University of Michigan Medical Center.  Meagan has traveled to Kenya, Argentina, Ecuador, Haiti, and Guatemala, combining her passion for nursing and global work.  Meagan has a Master’s in Nursing Education from Olivet Nazarene University and works at Nurse’s International as Chief of Staff.
