Course Overview

Course Structure

This course represents Part I: Didactic Foundations of the full Preceptor Development program and is organized into focused units designed to build preceptorship knowledge step-by-step:

1. Introduction to Preceptorship
2. Communication and Feedback
3. Teaching and Learning Strategies
4. Generational, Cultural, and Personality Differences
5. Competency Development and Validation
6. Practical Application and Reflection

Each unit includes readings, presentations, microlearning activities, and knowledge checks or reflection prompts.

How This Course Fits Into the Full Program
Part I provides the foundational knowledge required for preceptorship. To complete the full program, learners must also participate in:
  • Part II: Professional Development & Assessment (Institution-Facilitated)
    Hands-on application, case-based learning, coaching plan development, and formal evaluation
  • Part III: Site-Specific Module (Optional)
    Customization to institutional policies, documentation tools, and clinical expectations

 

Completion of Part I alone does not constitute full preceptor training.
